Daniel’s story:

TUCSON — Representative Daniel Patterson is a progressive, independent and fiscally responsible Democrat running to continue serve you in the Arizona House of Representatives. He is a clean elections candidate.

Daniel is a family man who lives with his wife and daughter in south downtown Tucson, where they generate solar power and grow food. He listens. He’s worked with Attorney General Terry Goddard, former Governor Janet Napolitano, US Reps. Raul Grijalva and Gabrielle Giffords and many Arizona legislators.

As a State Representative, Tucson Planning Commissioner, Center for Progressive Leadership Arizona Political Leaders Fellow, Board Member of the Pima County Board of Adjustment, and Santa Rita Park Neighborhood President, Daniel Patterson has demonstrated government and community leadership.

Mr. Patterson is an Ecologist. His environmental and energy knowledge and planning skills will help quality of life in Tucson’s scenic, fragile and growing south and southeast areas of legislative district 29, and across Arizona.

His priorities include improving the economy, education, health care, jobs, public safety, human & civil rights, water, transportation, energy and the environment.

Daniel Patterson is the Southwest Director of Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility, a national conservation service organization. He has also worked with the US Department of the Interior-Bureau of Land Management, ran his own consulting business, and directed the Center for Biological Diversity’s deserts program. Daniel is a graduate of Michigan State University’s College of Agriculture and Natural Resources.

He has business experience, having helped his family run a successful automotive company.

“I’ve been working for a healthier, smarter and more compassionate quality of life as a leader in the community for nearly 15 years — most of my adult life,” says Patterson. “A lot has changed during my many years of public interest service in Tucson, but one thing that hasn’t changed is my hope, optimism and constant pursuit of the common good. I have the experience, ethics and vision to improve the legislature and best serve the people, and I ask for your support.”

“LD 29 candidates Linda Lopez for Senate, Matt Heinz and Daniel Patterson for House, will help build bridges in the legislature to improve Arizona’s economy, education, energy and the environment. They have my support,” says former Arizona Governor Janet Napolitano.

“Daniel Patterson will listen to teachers and the people who work in our schools. Investing in public education is his priority,” says John Wright, Arizona Education Association President. “A vote for Daniel Patterson is a vote to put another friend of teachers and public education in the legislature.”

“A father of a young daughter in public school, he will focus on restoring funding and programs for our lagging public education system. He will address the needs of families in his district, focusing on the economic and health needs of those who most need state assistance. And he will earn the voters’ confidence,” says John Adams, US Army General (ret.). “Daniel Patterson will be an excellent representative in the Arizona House of Representatives for Legislative District 29. It is my privilege to endorse his candidacy.”

“Daniel Patterson has leadership experience and a true commitment on issues that concern all of us. It is seldom that we are so fortunate to have such a strong candidate as Daniel,” says Elaine Richardson, retired Arizona Senator and Gov. Napolitano cabinet member. “Daniel is an intelligent, hard-working man. He will bring positive values to the legislature and serve his constituents and the State of Arizona well. Daniel Patterson will help change the tone at the State Capitol. He will serve the public interest, not special interests.”

“As a former Democratic State Senator in Arizona, and as a long-time political talk show host on Tucson radio, I endorse Daniel Patterson for the Arizona House of Representatives. Mr. Patterson has the commitment, knowledge and ability to be a great lawmaker,” says John C. Scott. “In this field of candidates, Daniel Patterson stands out as a qualified leader. I ask you to join me in my support for Daniel Patterson for the State House in district 29.”

“…I can attest to the fact that Daniel is a strong and resounding voice for all of us who live here. He refuses to placate the developers taking advantage of the supposed future of Rio Nuevo, and asks vital questions. Daniel is at every neighborhood meeting, even when it’s an adjoining neighborhood meeting, and he was active long before he announced his candidacy for state representative. Daniel is also one of the few individuals in the community who has consistently volunteered in my fifth-grade classroom. He has facilitated many wonderful discussions on the environment and the issues of growth in Tucson and the Sonoran Desert. Daniel cares about children and the future issues they may face,” says Mary C. Rogers, TUSD teacher and LD29 voter.
